Angela - Introduction - Some Detail
« on: July 21, 2016, 09:29:11 PM »
I am a newish member having joined in April 2016 and I wanted to give a few details about myself. I was born in Sydney Australia, in 1963 to two teachers. My mother taught primary school and my father lectured in economics, going on to design tax systems and then to VC a University in the City I now live in, on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. I moved back here from Sydney to teach law to university students, although I am now retired and caring for my parents so they can stay in their home. I will never stop studying. But I also have a love of teaching that I inherited from my parents. If all works out, I get to spend eternity doing what I love! How great is that?
Since quite young I have always questioned “Why?” which can be an annoying trait in a child and even more so in an adult. So I have sought my own answers spending long wasteful hours day-dreaming and reading. This is how I discovered the Urantia Book and then the Serara MM Forum. I was blessed to grow in a family with a close connection to the land that stretches back into our ancestry here as free settlers. When I was young I spent as much time as possible on horseback alone and deep in thought. Well, at the time it seemed important. Now I see that our purpose is part of a series of choices that spell out our known potential. I believe we are here on this forum to see how we fare in actualising that potential.

In the Urantia Book, of the Apostles it is said “They never failed to alternate between exaltation and humiliation in their life experiences.” I relate well to this constant struggle to keep the calm within. I can say that with all my past chalked up, I have learnt the lesson of humility rather well. I married at 21 and had two wonderful children. My son lives with me and my daughter studies at Melbourne University. I divorced at 29 and have not sought a lasting relationship since. I have been so privileged to spend time in the company of some amazing people. Over the years since, I have witnessed enough to conclude that we are being observed by those far superior to us, guiding each decision. When I was 8, I was saved from drowning in a way that at the time was really puzzling, but now makes more sense.
I work towards reception of the spiritual help at hand and to be useful to the Teaching Mission. But also towards the calmness that eludes me. It is wonderful to have stumbled into a fraternity and a sense of belonging. It seems that all the disappointments and false starts were given to me so that I could spot the real deal, and this is it, among all here.   I am a child sitting at the adults table grasping at familiar words, and struggling with new concepts. I don't understand all that is said yet. I remember when Meloloc signed off with “unmitigated serenity”. But at this table – I am too excited to eat. So I sign off “Intermittent calm” because too much is going on to be calm all the time. Angela.

It's wonderful to get to know you Angela!  Thanks for sharing with us. Mysteries have been a part of your life for some time. That is probably what we all here have in common, and the desire to know more...

Hello Angela and most welcome to you.

I love the ivory tower, and you worked in one I see teaching law, and to me that is like learning to split hairs the right side of things, and lives for many of us are not that fortunate, and I would say most of them are here too.

My degree in History some years ago was supposed to end as a doctorate at Columbia, but I was too poor to ever entertain such an idea and instead opted out to conqueror the spirit concept world.  I read the Urantia Book over ten times straight through and then passingly fifty times more.  I see you devote your time to dreaming too, as I have discovered maybe like you that reading and rereading the revelation starts to go flat when there is nothing interesting to add to the last reading.  And I finally quite and sat on my laurels.  That is, until my laurels caught fire with the Teaching Mission that showed itself in 1991-92.  I call your attention to the Teaching Mission mostly because the antecedent material that you read on this discussion forum, was actually formulated in the 1992-2000 years of the now defunct Teaching Mission.  You do not have time to read the nearly 6,000 lesson transcripts archived on tmarchive.org, but you can read through them by search subjects afforded to you by the site.  I recommend you passingly go in and shower with some of them at random or will and enjoy the boisterous reaction of humans to the first time T/R'ing (transmitting/receiving) was first tried with them.  I remember those early times very well as some of the most exciting additions to reading the Urantia Book I ever had.

You are most welcome to come and stay with us as long as you find it feeding your excitement and fascination with revelation and its effect on man that subsumes most and carries little interest to the many.  I will never understand the lack of interest in the universe or how it is run and created, but that is our mankind today.  I also welcome you to star in legalisms if you like; heck, I love law too and worked with it a lot in my earlier days as a right-of-way specialist for public works.  Happy stays and happy days to you Angela!

Hello Angela,
How awesome is our journey to here!  Our Thought Adjusters are marvellous and I'm just so happy to know you a bit better and so many of our brothers and sisters who happily share their story and their journey so far.  Love to hear more from you dear sister and hope to meet you one fine day! Cheers mate! And thank you for so inspiring me with your passion for change.  Together with our Thought Adjusters and our wonderful Universal family can there be change when we stand tall in the knowledge we have been bestowed by our loving Father Christ Michael with the amazing revelatory work given in our first  Urantia Book and thereafter a number of more volumes to come to reveal so much that is necessary for our people to be better illuminated and established in mind and heart for who we are and where we belong. The Universal Father has a very long story to tell and it will take a very long ride to find Him.  Welcome to the Forum dear sister and may you join us in the pursuit to finding him too.

Much love and blessings be with you,
Sue/7inOcean

Dear Angela - I enjoyed reading your introduction.   You were able to open your Heart to us, knowing that you do so in safety.   We are a motley bunch with all kinds of personalities, just like a regular family.   We are all growing and learning about the will of the Father, who I adore.

I join Ron and the other sisters and brothers in welcoming you into our Hearts.

Welcome sister Angela,
It's nice to have you with us and see another lady here.  When I was a young girl the nuns where I went to school always told us never to question God or ask the question 'why'. Now I know asking why and being curious is the start of a spiritual journey that all of us undertake and so should be something that all children should be asking.  In the stories of Jesus in 'Jesus Christ - I speak to you again' (www.tmrussia.org) Jesus said he often asked questions like:
"And when such thoughts were permanently arising in my mind, I had nobody at hand whom I could ask. Why was God so relentless? Why was He so revengeful? Why had He to be feared and obeyed all the time? Why could not I commune with Him directly but rather through rabbis?" (Ch 6. The Concept Of God To Me As A Child Who Was Searching For Answers Within Himself).
Well He also taught 'Ask and you shall receive' - curiosity is a good thing.  Enjoy it here!
Blessings to you,
Evan

Thanks, Evan. Many years ago when my children started school their natural curiosity was disparaged as a negative trait. My son had sticky tape placed over his mouth. I think their questions are needed in that setting for the child to develop a concept of self and for skills in self-reflection. But also as you say for their spiritual journey. I would love to see philosophy taught in our schools.

I find the philosophy discussed in the UB thrilling.
"The religious challenge of this age is to those farseeing and forward-looking men and women of spiritual insight who will dare to construct a new and appealing philosophy of living out of the enlarged and exquisitely integrated modern concepts of cosmic truth, universe beauty, and divine goodness. Such a new and righteous vision of morality will attract all that is good in the mind of man and challenge that which is best in the human soul. Truth, beauty, and goodness are divine realities, and as man ascends the scale of spiritual living, these supreme qualities of the Eternal become increasingly co-ordinated and unified in God, who is love." 2:7.10 (43.3)

Wow what a search! Love this dear Sisters Evan and Angela, I think given our world's dark mess these so contrast with what is and what is in our potential as Urantians.  So much is in our wake, our children  will be glad the door is open wide when we the faithful, had to find the window to peer through the fog to see such splendour.  Thank you Angela for bringing that into perspective.  I note you and I are of similar age and born in the same year, you have two children and so do I, mine are second year uni students and doing well.  You are retired, I'm not as I work to the bone to keep the family going and I work for two healthcare employers now, and one other I prefer to be with more and that is with all of you with the Father.  Nonetheless, I continue to press on like with the energy, the recent indwellings may have knocked me about, still I bounce around as if I'm renewed with a new sense of deliverance and calm in my walk with life here.  It is interesting " ..man ascends the scale of spiritual living..", when I had in mind a ladder to climb to the Father.  Well "scales of spiritual living" is certainly a better way to look at it with eternity in mind! Yeehah giddy up lets up on the horse and let's rides this where the old boy wants to take us, shall we!  What a living! From the worse to the supreme, oops and maybe to the absonite and beyond. Oh what a ride! Thank you Father! As Aussies say 'Onyas Sisters! (Meaning good on you sisters!).

We are descended from good pioneer stock, Sue. The horses are saddled and the fog has cleared! All away!
We are each so blessed to be here.
Sue, you mentioned the Trinity of Trinities earlier in the zoom-room. I have only recently gained ground with this after reading William Sadler's "Appendices to A Study of The Master Universe". http://www.urantia.org/appendices-study-master-universe/appendices-study-master-universe
If each reading of the UB is like a year in spiritual life, then -- Ron Besser, you are the spiritual age of 40.
